welcome to ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE DE CEBU!
It is a “Petite France” in Cebu where anybody can enter without a visa and mingle with the French culture. “Alliance Française de Cebu” is a Filipino association of “Francophile” women and men from various nationalities. Located in the very heart of the Visayan Capital, a stone’s throw from the Ayala Center, Alliance Française de Cebu is a genuine international meeting place. People from highly diverse backgrounds, with highly diverse sets of interests (cultural, professional etc.) come together from all over the globe.
The language center is open to everyone willing to learn or polish their French . Exhibits and events organised in the cultural center will interest those who want to know more about this far away country, and be at the avant-garde of a long and traditional culture.

Our Beginnings
The story begins with a conversation between Gérard Chesnel and Michel Lhuillier.
The latter says how proud he is of his dual citizenship and shares his desire
to give back to France as France gave to him. The Ambassador doesn't hesitate one
moment, and tells Michel Lhuillier: "Give us an Alliance Française!" And today, that
request has been fulfilled!
Inauguration of Les Amis de la France on November 29, 2007
Alliance Française is the official French
cultural center and the only official
European cultural office of Cebu and of
the Visayas. The center was inaugurated in
November 2007 by the French
Ambassador, SEM Girard Chesnel. It was
founded by Michel Lhuillier upon the
request of the French Embassy and he is
still the main sponsor.
Before becoming Alliance Française, les Amis de la France was founded by a group
of French and Filipinos willing to offer a venue for expression in French language
and culture and to develop the exchanges between our two cultures.
